Fans are excited as filmmaker Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar reunite after 14 years. Their latest project, Haiwaan, is a high-octane thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.
The film went on floors today in Kochi, with additional shooting planned in Ooty and Mumbai. Akshay Kumar shared a video on social media announcing the start of the shoot.
In the video, he holds the clapperboard while Priyadarshan and Saif Ali Khan share playful banter with him. Akshay wrote, “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan… Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan. Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshandir Sir. Great to be working with Saif after nearly 18 years. Let’s get the haiwaniyat rolling!!”
The film marks Akshay and Saif’s reunion after over 17 years since Tashan. Fans are thrilled to see the trio collaborate and are already expecting high-energy entertainment.
The supporting cast includes Shriya Pilgaonkar, Boman Irani, Sharib Hashmi, and Saiyami Kher. Akshay Kumar reportedly plays the villain in the film.
Haiwaan is said to be the Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, which starred Mohanlal. However, many fans are sceptical about remakes, as several recent South-to-Bollywood adaptations have faced criticism.
Despite Priyadarshan’s iconic status, questions remain whether a remake can still entertain modern audiences. It will be interesting to see if the trio, along with a strong supporting cast, can deliver a fresh and engaging thriller.
