After delivering acclaimed shows like The Family Man, Rana Naidu, and The Trial, director Suparn Verma is now stepping into cinema with a powerful courtroom drama.
Titled HAQ, the film stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam in lead roles. According to industry sources, the project has already wrapped up its shoot quietly and is now in post-production.
HAQ is inspired by a true story and is said to draw heavily from the landmark Supreme Court judgment in the Shah Bano vs Ahmed Khan case—a case that triggered major conversations around justice and personal law.
Produced by Junglee Pictures, Insomnia Films, and Baweja Studios, the film is set against a hard-hitting legal backdrop. While official details are still under wraps, the film is expected to spark strong public discussion due to its controversial theme.
Sources reveal that a powerful teaser has already been cut and will soon be released digitally. The film is tentatively scheduled for a theatrical release on 7th November 2025, although the date will be confirmed with the teaser.
In the film, Emraan Hashmi plays a sharp yet morally conflicted lawyer. Yami Gautam portrays a woman fighting for justice across several years, anchoring the emotional core of the story.
Some online chatter has questioned Yami Gautam’s recent project choices, suggesting a tilt towards politically themed films, especially after her role in Article 370. However, these are just assumptions, and there’s no confirmation about any such intent.
For now, fans are eagerly waiting for the first look and teaser of HAQ, which promises to be one of the most intense courtroom dramas in recent times.
