Kareena Kapoor Khan’s next is a directorial venture of Hansal Mehta and disturbed under the banner of Pen Studios. The film is called The Buckingham Murders, in it a British-Indian detective must solve a case amidst her personal grieving. The star cast also includes Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, and Keith Allen. But this Bollywood murder mystery has come under scrutiny of the netizens ever since its trailer was made public. Now the makers have started pouring their clarifications on the same.
Many social media users pointed out that from the premise to the vibe and setting, this film has close resemblance to Kate Winslet starrer TV series Mare Of The Easttown. The show was super successful and won Kate Winslet a Golden Globe. Ever since these series of allegations have started fans have been waiting for the makers’ response. Kareena Kapoor Khan in an interview confessed that she is a huge fan of Kate Winslet and draws inspiration from her but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the film is going to be a copy of the Emmy nominated series. Now, the director, Hansal Mehta has stated that it seems ridiculous for anyone to conclude anything without even watching the film.

To some extent Mehta seems right, nothing concrete can be said about the film before its release on 13 September. But netizens’ claim cannot be avoided if things seem so obvious. Fans are often lured to screens with high and mighty claims of never before murder mystery. But when we go to the theatres we are often left fooled by makers who just present a simple remaking of internationally acclaimed projects. Authenticity is something Bollywood fans deeply admire, the makers need to be aware of that!
