Badass Ravi Kumar BO

A surprise box office shake up in this Bollywood! Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar did surprisingly well with its opening collections at anywhere between ₹4.50-5 crore, which is way above the expected ₹1 crore it had made projections.

Star-driven films such as Khel Khel Mein (Akshay Kumar), Azaad (Ajay Devgn) and Deva (Shahid Kapoor) could hardly have imagined such numbers.

Made on a shoestring budget of ₹20 crore, satire, spoof-witted humour, and the signature Reshammiya music have got it the nod from audiences.

Social media is full of memes and discussions, which have helped this film go up. From sounding like an offshoot of some experimental venture, it became a theatrical hit.

This raises a big question: is Bollywood’s traditional star system losing its grip? If a film like Badass Ravi Kumar can outperform big-budget productions with established superstars, it suggests that audiences are gravitating toward fresh, unconventional content. Could this be a wake-up call for Bollywood’s elite?

For the time being, Himesh Reshammiya is basking in the glory of an underdog victory, proving that sheer entertainment value and a strong audience connection can triumph over big names and hefty budgets.
