The Bollywood box office came back to life with Kalki which has hit the Rs 200 crore nett mark in the Hindi belt. While the success of Kalki is a reprieve to Indian cinema, Bollywood in itself is still in a spot of bother.
To put that into perspective, a recent release titled Kill has garnered largely positive reviews from the critics. The reception from the multiplex folk has also been very positive.
But in terms of actual box office returns, Kill has been struggling big time. The film wrapped up its first weekend with a mere Rs 6 crore gross.
Considering the good talk the film garnered and the gripping action content that it has to offer, better numbers are expected at the box office but that isn’t the case.
The Bollywood audience are usually receptive of action films, and more so if the film garners good reviews. But despite the good talk from the multiplex audience, the masses are completely away from the film.
The competition from Kalki isn’t helping its cause here either. Even on its first Monday, Kalki posted over Rs 8 crore nett which is more than what Kill posted in its entire first weekend. This sums it all up.
This film has Lakshya, Raghav Juyal and others in the lead roles. This is a rare case of a Hindi film getting a very good talk and going downhill at the box office.
