The release date of King, set a few days after the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday, has left a lot of people concerned. While initial reports claimed that the film might get postponed, a new update has confirmed that the makers are not planning to shift the release date for now.
King is confirmed to be released on December 24, 2026. A trade source stated that King has an advantage in India since it is a Hindi film with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead alongside many other actors.
The insider stated that only Avengers is a competition for the film, and since two more movies, Dune Part Three and Jumanji 4, are coming during the same period, King might face a few issues getting the maximum number of screens. The source still says that only a movie like King has the guts to compete with three big Hollywood releases.
The insider said that SRK is already a known face overseas, and with Yash Raj Films involved in the international market distribution, King won’t face a problem getting the best screens and shows.
However, theatre owners, specifically the single screens, are worried about the situation that will emerge in December 2026. With three big Hollywood releases and a big Hindi film coming at the same time, some of them have expressed concern that the distributors and studios might force them to show one film.
Online users reacted by saying that since it will be a crowded month, SRK should prefer shifting the release. But the fans are confident, saying that the movie has the potential to work because SRK is returning to the big screen after a gap of three years.
Some supporters even shared the reasons why King will work. Although nothing is confirmed, they said that the movie will not shift because the makers are possibly very confident about the content. They further stated that King might be a 2-part movie, with the first ending on a cliffhanger.
However, nothing much can be said until the advance bookings are opened. Let’s wait and see if the audience will rush to see King as they did at the time of Pathaan and Jawan, adding another blockbuster to SRK’s filmography.
