Imtiaz Ali seems to have done his magic again. The filmmaker’s latest release, Main Vaapas Aaunga, has been running successfully in the theatres.
It was originally released on June 12, 2026, and the opening week didn’t do much business.
However, things seem to have paced up and currently, the film did a massive 125% jump in business on its second Saturday.
Reportedly, the Vedang Raina and Sharvari starrer has collected a whopping Rs. 4.25 crore in the box office.
By the end of the second weekend, the film is eying almost Rs.12 crore plus business.
Now, the question is: what has worked out for Main Vaapas Aaunga?
When it was released initially, people thought it was just another partition love story. However, when the audience gave feedback after the first day’s first show, things turned the other way.
The emotional connect that we always see in Imtiaz Ali’s films showed up in Main Vaapas Aaunga.
Along with that, another thing that worked out is the word of mouth. Social media was abuzz with praises for the cast as well as the movie’s story.
This seems to have acted up in the second week when more and more people wanted to explore the film in the theatres.
Main Vaapas Aaunga’s success also reveals that the modern audience wants to explore different genres.
And if things go well, even an average film can do well at a time when several releases were packed up for the entire 2-3 weeks.
