2024 has not been so lucky for Bollywood. Popular producers invested a lot of money on big projects and stars, but none of them have hardly made an impact at the box office. However, the major highlight of this year has been the re-release of some iconic films that will always be remembered for their storylines, music, and performances.

We saw Yash Raj Films bringing back their successful projects such as Veer Zaara and Mohabbatein to the big screen in February this year. They even made the shows accessible with an affordable ticket price of Rs. 112. The trend continued and we saw the re-release of Rockstar, which received a phenomenal response.
The next on the list was Laila Majnu, which came out back in 2018. Re-released this Friday, the modern adaptation of a popular folktale was not initially well-received. But like many other films, this one also left a question in everyone’s minds – “Was it deserving enough to become a box office bomb?” And the answer is no.

The re-release of Laila Majnu proves that the public has the power to decide the fate of a film. There has been a strong occupancy in all the shows throughout India, with a few of them also going housefull. Notably, the limited availability of single screens has not affected the business.
The response is surprising considering that the re-release happened on a non-holiday. Audiences have already taken to social media platforms to share their feedback. A few of them posted certain sections from the film, praising the performances of the lead pair, Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri.

Another major impact of this initiative has been an increased demand for the re-release of films such as Go Goa Gone. This is expected considering the underwhelming content that Bollywood is offering today.
Talking about Avinash and Triptii, the failure of Laila Majnu did not leave a negative impact on their respective careers. The former has recently impressed the audience with his performance in Madgaon Express and the latter is being approached by well-known producers due to her perfection on screen as an actress.
As mentioned earlier, Bollywood is currently going through a bad phase. There is hardly any audience waiting in line to take a ticket for the films that have come out in the last few months. At this crucial phase, re-releasing old films is the only way to maintain public interest in Hindi films.
