Shah Rukh Khan is once again winning hearts for supporting victims of the Punjab floods and neighbouring states. His Meer Foundation has adopted 1500 families in Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Firozpur, providing relief and recovery assistance.
The foundation has distributed food, medicines, hygiene items, mosquito nets, beds, and tarpaulin sheets. These efforts are aimed at both immediate needs and long-term recovery. SRK also expressed solidarity with victims, assuring them that help is on the way.
This gesture has sparked comparisons with his Darr co-star Sunny Deol. In the 1993 film, Sunny was the hero and SRK the villain, but today many feel their real-life roles appear reversed.
Despite his Punjabi roots and his role as MP for Gurdaspur, Sunny Deol has not made any public announcement of relief efforts. His silence stands out as Punjabi celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Sonu Sood, and Harbhajan Singh extend active support.
Social media users highlight that heroism is not just on-screen. SRK is celebrated as an inspiring example of celebrity responsibility. Some argue Sunny Deol should not face hate, but many believe the “Punjabi Sher” owes his people help in such times.
