After a long wait, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 trailer has finally been released on May 1, 2025. It also features Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor. The reviews for the crime thriller are out now, and most critics have given mixed reactions to the entire film.
The performances of Ajay Devgn as Amay Patnaik and Ritesh Deshmukh as Dada Bhai are being praised, including Vaani Kapoor. Yet, there is less of the story and more less of thrills with surprises. That’s what one critic said in her review of the film. In her detailed review, she explained how tactically the makers sold the film in the name of Deshmukh’s new character.

The film has come under everyone’s radar because it’s already a sequel of a quite moderate film. The plot is more or less the same, with an officer, Amay, conducting his 75th raid. This time, he targets an influential politician who challenges him openly and uses every trick in the book to create roadblocks for the protagonist.
Now, let’s highlight some aspects of the film so that you can decide whether to watch it in theatres.

Let’s start with the unnecessary music and tacky dance performances which could’ve been easily removed from the film. Yes, Tamannaah was amazing in Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2, but the same can’t be said for Nasha from Raid 2.
And wait, Vaani Kapoor? Doesn’t ring a bell right? Imagine watching your favorite serial on TV only to find that the female lead is replaced. Same goes for Raid 2 where Vaani replaces Illeana D’cruz. Somehow, it feels like she wasn’t able to shed her modern girl character.

The storyline is quite predictive and crumbles when trying to combine various bits and pieces. Here’s what a critic had to say about the film, “#Raid2 Is Sikandar Of #AjayDevgn : Everyone Is Disappointed By This . This film is very dull, very boring and does offer anything great. It’s nothing compared to the first part. Ajay Devgn Expression less.”
With no major competition until next week, Raid 2 may have an open opportunity to do good business. But will the audience accept another sequel of this crime thriller? That’s in doubt.
