Ranbir Kapoor

The Rockstar fame Ranbir Kapoor has proven his value as an actor over the years. This will make one wonder, would such a celebrity also resort to PR gimmicks for their works? After featuring in Animal, Ranbir has received much criticism for his role and ethics. Now, he is on a mission to correct his image for his upcoming project.

Nitesh Tiwari’s mega-project is a mythological drama film based on Ramayana. It is studded with stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Yash, Lara Dutta and Sheeba Chadhha. Fans are excited for its release but it has also been questioned by many for handling a mythological tale and including Ranbir Kapoor as the lead role of Lord Ram. Much like Padmavat, Adipurush and other films there has been a backlash from religious extremists.

In a recent podcast, Ranbir was seen acknowledging his identity as a Sanatani proudly. He was also seen hailing Narendra Modi for his charm. Many hailed him for a wonderful acceptance of his religious beliefs, but there are also a lot of people who believe it’s just for the sake of his film and he is politicising the whole matter. Trolls have time and again highlighted his statement in an interview where he called himself a “big beef guy”, which doesn’t align with beliefs of Sanatan Dharma. Netizens believe he is manipulating religious sentiments for PR. It does seem unjustified if a celebrity starts appealing to a religion just to draw crowds to the theatres.
