While some claim that the recreated song starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor brings a fresh perspective, most find that there is no charm. Remo Fernandes who sang the original version of the song has slammed the remake. He says that while there is nothing wrong with making new covers of classic songs, it must bring something plus or different to the table. Remo feels that the new version of Humma Humma lacks both of these and is a pale and insipid version of the classic number, both vocally and instrumentally.

Meanwhile, one of the singers of the remade song, Tanishk says that the new song is a tribute to AR Rahman who has always been an inspiration for him.
