The buzz around Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, is growing as its release date nears. The film is now in its final stages, with only two days of shoot left.
As per recent reports, the makers have locked March 30, a Sunday, for its theatrical release—timing it to coincide with Eid on the next day, March 31.
Traditionally, many Salman Khan’s Eid releases like Kick have arrived two to three days before the festival and still took a huge opening.
However, this time, the decision to release Sikandar on a Sunday instead of the usual Friday (March 28) has sparked debate. Many on social media believe this move suggests that the makers don’t have confidence in either Salman Khan’s current box office pull or the film’s content.
They seem to be relying on the Sunday and Eid holiday boost to maximize collections early on, without concern for the film’s long-term box office performance.
Also, the concern is that if Sikandar had released on a regular Friday and failed to open big, it could have set a negative perception.
In today’s box office climate, where perception often dictates a film’s fate, the makers seem to be playing it safe by aligning the release with a guaranteed holiday boost.
Meanwhile, director AR Murugadoss and producer Sajid Nadiadwala are working tirelessly to ensure the film is completed on time.
The high-octane action sequences require extensive VFX, and additional resources have been allocated to speed up post-production.
