Sanjay Dutt did not expect what he witnessed from the first day collections of his latest release The Bhootnii. The film was expected to have an underwhelming release but an opening of 50 Lakhs was something which no one ever expected.
The film’s trailer and promos were enough to predict that it will struggle and will have a poor outing at the box office.

Sanjay Dutt previously made several statements regarding how each film should get a fair amount of screen count and availability to showcase its full potential.
Given this reasoning, many might argue that The Bhootnii’s low screen count of 2-3 shows in select screens might be the reason for the low collections.

However, there is no guarantee that the film would have performed splendidly if it had gotten more screens as people never liked the film in the first place given its cringeworthy dialogues and plot.
It is a shame to see Sanjay Dutt suffer at the box office as casual audiences are still rooting for him to deliver a box office hit.

He can pull off massy roles and portray single hero films just like Sunny Deol did with Jaat and have a decent outing at the box office but his script choices are something that needs to change.
While it is sad to see Sanjay’s films getting 2-3 shows on select screens, exhibitors and distributors knew that the film would not deliver in terms of ticket sales and therefore films like Raid 2 and Kesari Chapter 2 got more shows as compared to The Bhootnii.
As the film had a rough start at the box office, it remains to be seen if it will be able to have a considerable collection at the box office.
