Shahid Kapoor’s much-awaited film “Deva” released in cinemas on January 31, 2025, but it was a box office dud. Though Shahid performed well, the film was met with mixed reviews and was considered a disappointment by many. Some critics even termed it another disaster, saying that only a miracle could save it.
Now, everyone is looking forward to Shahid’s next venture, “Arjun Ustaraz”, by Vishal Bhardwaj. This will be their fourth collaboration after “Kaminey” which was a decent hit; “Haider” which was a great success; and “Rangoon”, which did not quite become a recent hit. Though Vishal Bhardwaj is a very renowned director, his last few films have not been a hit.

Arjun Ustara is the story of gangsters in the 1990s Mumbai setting, which can be described as a love story with action. However, as OTT has taken over, and with such a long line of gangster web series such as Mirzapur, Paatal Lok, etc., will this still work in theatres?
Joining Shahid Kapoor will be Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Randeep Hooda, and Vikrant Massey. Even though Shahid is looking forward to working with these talented actors, especially Nana Patekar, success for the film is far from guaranteed.

As the discussion about the film continues, it remains to be seen if Arjun Ustara can rise above the current oversaturation of its genre and deliver a fresh cinematic experience.
