Shoojit Sircar film failure

Abhishek Bachchan’s last film I Want to Talk, which was directed by Shoojit Sircar, turned out to be one of the biggest disasters of 2024. The film managed to impress audiences in theatres but still, no one was interested in watching it and the response has been the same after its OTT release.

Shoojit recently opened up on the film’s failure by saying that he was disoriented by the same and that he could not understand what exactly failed to grab the attention of the audience.

Shoojit further stated that he never considered the film to be under the niche genre since it included multiple languages and had an English title. He mentioned that film experts are nowadays attracted to international content, adding that even Amitabh Bachchan praised it.

There is no doubt that Shoojit, Abhishek, and everyone else involved with the film gave their best to ensure that it was loved by the audience. However, the makers need to understand that such concepts where the lead character is dealing with some kind of disease cannot impress audiences anymore.

Films like I Want to Talk had a huge market before the COVID-19 pandemic. But now the audience preferences have changed since they are more interested in mass action entertainers or films that are hard-hitting and leave an emotional impact in some manner.

Furthermore, Abhishek Bachchan is not a popular face now like he used to be in the past. His career has gone through ups and downs over the years and he has undoubtedly failed to establish a huge stardom for himself. So, he should stay on OTT, where he has been loved for his performance in shows like Breathe: Into the Shadows.
