Fans are questioning why Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who are nearing their 60s, are still taking on lead roles with significantly younger love interests.

Admittedly, it does seem odd to see actors close to 60 romancing much younger actresses. However, that doesn’t mean older actors can’t be the main protagonists of films.
Shah Rukh Khan also faced a similar phase where he was stuck in a loop.

However, he took a five-year break and made a grand comeback. With Jawan and Dunki, he has chosen lead roles that are age-appropriate while still maintaining his superstar appeal.
When Amitabh Bachchan turned 60, he faced multiple box office failures with films like Mrityudaata, Kohram, Lal Baadshah, and Major Saab. He was bankrupt and had no choice but to transition into character roles.

Unlike Amitabh, whose solo lead films were failing, SRK is still delivering blockbusters and maintaining his fitness and popularity.
It’s not that Salman and Shah Rukh can’t be leading men in films. They simply need to select scripts that align with their age and don’t seem unnatural.
Right now, SRK, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Ranbir Kapoor are among the few true Bollywood superstars, as many others are focusing solely on franchises.
They still have time to transition into father-figure roles, but only if they recognize how important it is to choose age-appropriate scripts.
After all, they can’t be 60 and play 30-year-old protagonists. Shah Rukh Khan understood the importance, and Salman’s films could perform better if he realized this as well.
