
Karan Johar and Vijay Deverakonda appeared together at the Waves Summit, where the latter opened up on the importance of collaborations between the North and South superstars.
Vijay expressed happiness about the discovery of South cinema from North side and people’s attraction to the same. He also addressed the success of Shah Rukh Khan and Allu Arjun’s recent films that managed to gross almost Rs. 1,000 crores at the box office.

Vijay mentioned that considering the above-mentioned numbers, a collaboration might turn out to be better.
He said that a collaboration can unite the country and it is a way to grow and grab more eyeballs at the same time. Vijay stated that a few people have already started doing the collaborations.

Karan then said in his response that War 2 is releasing this year on August 14, 2025, and that it would mark a collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
Karan stated that the upcoming action drama has a big star cast and that it would “explode at the box office” due to the star power. Karan also mentioned that more collaborations are expected to happen in the future.

Vijay is undoubtedly true about the fact that a North-South collaboration can prove to be beneficial, including at the box office. Everyone loves to see his or her favorite superstar confronting another superstar, and this is one of the reasons why Jawan managed to collect Rs. 1,000 crores.
People now have similar expectations from War 2 and in case the film creates similar records, Bollywood might come out of its bad phase by the next few years.
But every superstar has to be comfortable for such collaborations, and creating a comfort zone is a big problem nowadays. However, the makers must do the same. For now, let’s see if more North-South collaborations happen in the future.
