IIFA has announced its nominees in all categories today. Bollywood fans are always eager for this award show and the popular categories are much discussed on social media. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal marks a historic nomination in 11 categories, followed by 10 nominations of Alia and Ranveer starrer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Shahrukh Khan also weighs heavily with his films Pathaan and Jawaan adding up to a nomination in 7 categories. Although the underdog in this fight with an impactful story and sincere performance is 12th Fail starring Vikrant Massey which bagged 5 nominations in total. In the musical categories Pritam, Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh have made recurring entries in the nominations.
The sway of popular media seems to be impacting the nominations heavily. Even the critical backlash over Animal did not stop it from gaining nominations which seems to be a concern.
