Big Director Explodes: I Can’t Tolerate Aamir Khan

Mahesh Bhatt Quit Ghulam Deepak Tijori Blames Aamir Khan

Actor Deepak Tijori, who played a supporting role in the 1998 Bollywood hit Ghulam, recently revealed why acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt abruptly left the project.

According to Deepak, Mahesh’s departure was the result of the annoying nature of actor Aamir Khan, who reportedly was not an easy person to direct on the film.

Aamir Khan, who’s famously known for his perfectionist approach in Bollywood, reportedly made the filmmaking process a challenge for Mahesh Bhatt.

Deepak revealed that Aamir’s attention to detail and demand for total commitment clashed with Mahesh’s own filmmaking style.

He quoted Mahesh as saying, “Mere se nahi hoga, Aamir ko jhel nahi sakta main,” which translates to “I can’t do this. I can’t put up with Aamir.

Mahesh’s departure was even more tragic considering that the film had already been in production for two years before he decided to walk away.

Reportedly, Mahesh reached his breaking point when Aamir debated him over the choice of a cap for almost 10 hours in ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi’.

Following his exit, Vikram Bhatt was brought in to direct Ghulam, ultimately taking the wheel in his hand until the project’s completion.

Mahesh Bhatt later admitted that filmmaking didn’t matter enough to him to devote years to a single project, something Aamir Khan expected from his collaborators.

While Ghulam went on to become a success under Vikram Bhatt’s direction, fans believe that this episode remains as an example of how artistic visions and working styles can either make or break even the most exciting collaborations.
