Superstars Losing Magic: Young Actors Rule Begins

Young stars dominate 2025 Bollywood box office

With three months left in the year, Bollywood’s numbers are weaker than last year. Surprisingly, the Rs. 100 crore weekends came from young actors, not superstars like Salman Khan.

Chhaava is leading the charts, followed by War 2. A similar gap shows in Saiyaara and Housefull 5, with the latter barely managing Rs. 79 crores. The shift in audience preference is clear in these results.

Ajay Devgn, despite his strong reputation, failed to make the list. Salman Khan’s Sikandar released on a Sunday but was quickly dismissed due to poor reviews from both critics and viewers. The weak response ended its run almost immediately.

Aamir Khan returned after years with Sitaare Zameen Par. The sports comedy attracted large crowds in some regions but struggled to maintain momentum. It took a full week to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark. Akshay Kumar’s films earlier this year faced similar struggles.

These results raise questions about the choices of senior actors. The stars of the ‘90s were once examples for newcomers, but today the situation is reversed. Young actors are leading the way while veterans face setbacks.

Several big films with senior actors are lined up in the coming years. You will see whether these stars secure their place with strong content or lose ground as younger talent continues to dominate.
