Director Gautham Menon has come up with a short film titled Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn. It has a filmy connection and that too with one of his classic movies.
Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn is an extension to his classic love story Vinnai Thandi Varuvayya. For the Telugu audience who are unaware, it was simultaneously made as Ye Maaya Chesave in Telugu. However, there is a twist in the tale between the two movies. The Telugu version had a happy ending, whereas the Tamil was a tragedy.
The difference in the ending has enabled Gautham Menon to come up with an extension during the lockdown times. It is timely and heart-touching at the same time with the trademark emotional writing of the director all over the small duration. The background score by AR Rahman enhances the appeal and makes it a must-watch.
In case you have not checked it out yet, do watch it below. Simbu and Trisha reprise their roles from the classic movie as Karthik and Jessie. They have moved on in their lives, and it is realistically presented through the conversation by Gautham Menon. It almost feels like an autobiography of the director when the talk about films and finances pops up in the middle. The ending with the lovely music by Rahman makes one repeat it, immediately.
