Though several Tamil stars have tested their luck in Tollywood, it was only Suriya who made a mark on audience after Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. It is unfair to compare their acting skills but when it comes to Telugu market, Rajini and Suriya surely lead. As the recently released ‘Vikrama Simha’ bombed badly at box office, Suriya’s next release ‘Anjaan’ now has higher chances of making it big at the ticket counter. Suriya pairing up with all time top actress like Samantha in ‘Anjaan’ has given huge craze to the film already among Telugu audience. So, its fair to assume Suriya will take the lead among Tamil stars that are looking to gain in Telugu market. The next big test would be Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’ which will see the Superstar return to his commercial forte. It will be interesting to see which among these two commercial films gets bigger opening and collections in long run.
Meanwhile Kochadaiyaan makers who pinned high hopes on entertaining kids failed to attract them as they are confused about Rajini fighting with bad guys or good guys in the film. Others who have watched animated Rajini on screen are utterly disappointed with the non-sync Telugu dialogues. As per the trade folks, Rajini’s film didn’t get the usual openings expected from him. What is even worse is that the film was sold at discounted price at the last moment but the film is not going to get break-even even at that price. Lingaa is therefore extremely crucial for Superstar as another failure here would mean for the first time in decades the star will be left behind at the box office.
