Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 hit theatres yesterday after a few release changes. As expected, the film opened on a strong note at the box office. Early trends indicate solid audience interest.
The film reportedly collected ₹10 crore gross in the Nizam region on Day 1. This matches Balayya’s biggest opener till Veera Simha Reddy. Paid premieres contributed well, which is a positive sign.
Collections from Andhra Pradesh are also expected to be strong. Actual figures will be confirmed soon. Based on the Nizam trend, trade expects solid numbers from Andhra as well.
The postponement from December 5 to December 12 appears to have helped the film. The extra time seems to have added momentum and improved opening buzz.
In the United States market, Akhanda 2 earned $452K from premieres. This is Balakrishna’s fourth biggest premiere hour till date. A steady weekend hold is needed to approach the $1M full run mark.
Back in domestic markets, the film is trending around 14.5 K tickets per hour on BookMyShow on Saturday morning. This indicates strong demand. A good Saturday and Sunday could further boost collections.
