As many as 3.68 crore voters of Seema Andhra are set to face the first election after the crucial state bifurcation. Chandra Babu Naidu and YS Jagan face-off in the election as both their parties claiming majority in the 175 seats state Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha.
Cash and liquor have overflowed in the last week to contain as many votes as possible with YSR Congress party leading the front. There are also allegations that the party had resorted to fake money and illicit liquor distribution which created huge chaos every where.
2,30,552 Electronic Voting Machines are being used for this elections. 1.20 Lakh Security personnel including 272 companies of central forces are deployed in the region.
Voting will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM in 165 constituencies. In the remaining 10 Maoist affected areas, two constituencies will have voting till 4 PM and the remaining eight will have polling till 5 PM.
Today’s elections are a do or die battle for the main contenders Chandra Babu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. For Babu it’s crucial to come in to power to save the party which was out of power for a long time, and for Jagan, defeat in this poll may cost his life and put him back in to jail as ton of cases pending against him.
