In an interesting development, Amazon Prime Video announced that KGF 2 is now available for streaming on pay-per-view basis. The audience will have to pay a token amount of Rs 199 to stream KGF 2 on Amazon Prime.
What’s more interesting is that Amazon Prime’s pay-per-view announcement has drawn flak. People are calling out the OTT giant.
“We pay Rs 1499 annually to stream content on Amazon Prime. How on earth can you expect us to pay another additional amount apart from the subscription charge to watch your releases. Then what’s the point of paying the subscription fee,” a netizen commented.
“We are struggling to pay house rents itself, what do you mean when you say we should rent your films,” a netizens sarcastically mocked Amazon Prime over the KGF2 pay per view announcement.
Amazon recently announced that the platform will work on early access and pay per view models. Interestingly enough, they have put the same to effect already with KGF 2. Given the early response, Amazon’s move has drawn a largely negative response.
ZEE5 is also doing something similar with RRR, but they are getting away with it as their subscription charge is just Rs 699 and that too including RRR rental. Also, they have implemented the pay per view model in the past as well. But Amazon Prime is now in firing line over KGF 2 announcement.
