Andhra Pradesh Government has run into another shock in the State High Court. The Division Bench of the high Court had cleared all the decks for the Panchayat Elections in Andhra Pradesh. The Court struck down the Single Judge judgement of stalling the Elections.
The court asked the State Government and the Election Commission to work in tandem for the smooth conduct of the Elections. The court did not agree with the Government’s view of COVID-19 and the Vaccination drive coming in the way of the Elections. The Government is likely to approach the Supreme Court on this issue now.
State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar announced the Schedule for the Local Body Elections in Andhra Pradesh which will happen in four phases from February 5th to 17th. The Notifications for the four different phases will be out from 23rd of this month to February 4th.
With this verdict of the High Court, The State Election Commission is likely to release the notification of the first phase as per the earlier schedule.
