Marvel & DC movies were once considered one of the biggest threats to Indian films in our country. No Indian producer dared to release a film around the release of a Marvel or a DC film. The Avenger movies used to do a business of 300 crores easily, which many high-budget star-studded Indian films failed to do.
But in the last few years, the craze for Marvel and DC movies has been on a decline. After popular characters like Tony Stark (Iron Man) got killed, many people lost interest in their movies.
The Flash is the latest superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, it is the 13th installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
A few weeks ago, it was speculated that The Flash would pose a serious threat to Prabhas’ Adipurush in India. But going by the advance bookings, The Flash is nowhere compared to Adipurush. While Adipurush is expected to take an opening of 80-90 crore net first day (all versions), The Flash would struggle to cross the 5-crore mark.
Unfortunately, many high-end 3D screens have been blocked by The Flash due to prior commitments. Despite less occupancy, those screens have to be retained at least for the first weekend due to contracts between exhibitors and distributors.
Whereas Adipurush will miss those high-end 3D screens as there is a huge demand for its 3D version in all languages. The collections will be slightly affected as those screens are with The Flash despite poor occupancy.
Overall, The Flash, which was considered to be a threat to Adipurush, has fallen flat on its face.
