Outdated Plot, Lame Jokes, Only Glamor Turns Savior!

Aranmanai 4

The Aranmanai franchise holds the title of being Tamil cinema’s biggest horror series, enjoying popularity among Telugu audiences as well. With the success of its first three installments, the franchise is now gearing up for its fourth part.

The makers recently unveiled the trailer for “Aranmanai 4.” However, similar to its predecessors, the trailer suggests a familiar formula of outdated horror and comedy tropes that fail to capture audience interest. The saving grace seems to be the mindblowing glamor of Tamannaah and Raashii Khanna.

It’s surprising that despite criticisms of outdated storytelling, stale jokes by Yogi Babu, and poor visual effects, the Tamil audience hasn’t tired of the franchise.

The critics have slammed the franchise, particularly the third installment, highlighted the shortcomings of lazy filmmaking. Nonetheless, buoyed by the box office success of the previous three films, director Sundar C is coming up with the fourth installment.

The trailer hints at a plot involving the mysterious deaths of Sundar C’s sister (played by Tamannaah) and her husband (portrayed by Santhosh Pratap). He discovers that their souls have been possessed by a demon named ‘Baak,’ prompting him to embark on a mission to save them.

The film draws inspiration from Assamese folklore surrounding the water demon ‘Baak,’ known for hindering the expansion of empires beyond the Brahmaputra River.
