Venu Thottempudi was quite a saleable hero in the 2000s after hits like Swayamvaram, Chiru Navvutho, Hanuman Junction, Pellam Oorelthe, and Kalyana Ramudu. But due to his bad script choices and films, he soon faded away into oblivion.
After a huge gap, Venu made a comeback with Ravi Teja’s Ramarao On Duty. The film was a disaster, and he was also trolled a lot for his unimpressive performance.
But now Venu has ventured into the OTT arena with a Telugu horror web series, Athidhi, on Disney+Hotstar. Though nothing groundbreaking, Athidhi is a decent attempt by the makers that delivers entertainment in bits and parts.
The show completely runs on Venu Thottempudi’s shoulders, and he has done a commendable job. He portrays his character with remarkable understatement, displaying subtle emotions and expressions that perfectly suit the show’s tone. In many ways, his performance stands out as a highlight.
This is a positive development for Venu’s career, and he must plan out his next set of projects carefully. Producers and directors should also take notice of this talented actor and offer him roles that justify his good screen presence, impressive cutout, and decent histrionics.
