Naga Chaitanya pinned a lot of his hopes on Custody as he trusted in proven Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. He aggressively promoted the film as well.
But as it turned out, Custody crashed very badly right in its opening weekend.
The film’s theatrical rights are valued at around Rs 22 crores and the film hasn’t even collected Rs 5 crores share in its opening weekend. It is closing with less than $200K at the USA box office which is another shocker.
After a very dull opening, the buyers hoped the film would at least pick up the pace over the weekend but that didn’t happen. It ended up as a mega disaster with utterly weak collections.
At this rate, Custody is on course to emerge as another costly failure. The film has failed miserably in both Telugu and Tamil languages.
Naga Chaitanya has now delivered two disasters on the trot with Thank You and Custody. Fans are hoping he introspects and comes up with better content in the near future.
Custody is directed by Venkat Prabhu and it has Chay and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles. It is a complete non starter at the box office.
