Kiran Abbavaram‘s Chennai Love Story is all set to hit theatres on July 24, and the makers have now shifted into top gear with promotions. With Vijay’s Jana Nayagan arriving a day earlier on July 23, the team knows it has very little room for error.
Now, all eyes are on the film’s trailer.
The makers have announced a grand trailer launch event at AAA Cinemas today, hoping it can generate the buzz the film has been missing so far.
What’s interesting is the comparison with Baby.
Writer-producer Sai Rajesh created a phenomenon with Baby. Long before its release, the film had already become a talking point. Just one song was enough to create massive pre-release hype, and the momentum built almost on its own. The rest is history, with Baby going on to collect around Rs. 80 crores gross at the box office.
This time, the situation is completely different.
Despite multiple interviews, podcasts, and promotional events featuring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya, Chennai Love Story hasn’t managed to create the same organic excitement. People are aware of the film, but the strong emotional connection that Baby enjoyed before release is still missing.
That’s why today’s trailer becomes extremely important. It is no longer just another promotional asset. It could be the film’s last big opportunity to create genuine interest before release.
The encouraging part is that the industry is currently in a positive mood after the success of Maa Inti Bangaaram and Lenin. If Chennai Love Story opens well and, more importantly, wins positive word of mouth from the first shows, it still has every chance of emerging as another surprise success.
But for that to happen, the trailer needs to deliver.
Produced by SKN and Sai Rajesh Neelam under Mass Movie Makers and Amrutha Productions, with Dheeraj Mogilineni as co-producer, Chennai Love Story is now entering its most crucial phase before release. The next 48 hours could decide whether the film enters theatres with momentum or has to rely entirely on audience word of mouth.
