Rumors have recently been circulating in Tollywood from the past few days about Chiranjeevi‘s Mega158 directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by KVN Productions. The speculation suggested that the film is facing changes in its production setup because of issues involving KVN Productions.
According to industry talk, the production house has already invested heavily in several large projects at the same time. These include films like Toxic and Jana Nayagan which have been stuck for various reasons. Reports claim that nearly Rs.1000 crore has been invested across these ventures. Due to the release postponements, there are rumors that the company may be under financial pressure. Another film from the banner, the Kannada movie KD: The Devil, has also not generated the level of buzz that was expected. These factors led to speculation that the Chiranjeevi-Bobby film might change producers.
However, the production house quickly responded and dismissed the rumors on Sunday afternoon. In an official message, the team has now clarified that all their projects are progressing as planned and that people should ignore the speculation. They also stated that official announcements about their upcoming films will be released soon and that the company has a strong lineup of projects ready to move forward.
Even after this clarification, industry insiders say the scale of the film Mega158 may still be undergoing some adjustments. Director Bobby originally planned the movie on a very large budget. But the current market situation has changed, especially because OTT platforms have started offering smaller deals than before. Because of this, many producers are reworking budgets to make sure their films remain financially safe.
These financial realities have reportedly led to some changes in Mega 158 as well. The film was earlier expected to begin shooting in December or January, with a release planned for Sankranti 2027. However, the shoot has not started yet, and the latest plan is to begin production around mid-April. This could push the release to Summer 2027 instead.
Another big change being discussed involves the film’s music. Earlier, the team was considering bringing in AR Rahman as the composer. Now, reports suggest that Bobby’s usual favorite Thaman might be back on board to score the music. This change could be part of the effort to control the budget, since Rahman usually charges a much higher fee.
Similar adjustments may also happen in other departments, including casting and crew selection. For now, fans are waiting for official updates from the team. Once the production schedule is finalized, the makers are expected to reveal more details about the film.
