Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is already making headlines with massive pre-release buzz. Despite only two teaser clips being released, the film’s theatrical rights are in huge demand across regions.
In the overseas market, offers have reportedly touched ₹80 crores—a figure that would set a new all-time high for Tamil cinema if finalized.
Back home in the Telugu states, at least three top banners are said to have quoted ₹50–60 crores for distribution rights. However, Sun Pictures is holding firm, reportedly aiming for ₹70–80 crores given the film’s hype.
Tamil Nadu is witnessing even more intense interest, with trade circles predicting that theatrical rights could fetch close to 200 crores. This is remarkable even by Rajinikanth’s standards, and the presence of stars like Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Aamir Khan has only amplified the buzz.
Non-theatrical rights—including OTT, digital, dubbing, and audio—are also being sold at premium rates.
With Anirudh Ravichander handling the music, expectations are sky-high for a chart-topping soundtrack that will further boost the film’s reach.
There’s strong speculation that Annapurna Studios could acquire the Andhra–Telangana rights, thanks to Nagarjuna’s involvement in the project as one of the main characters.
Nagarjuna’s role is already generating superb hype, and if he also secures the Telugu rights and the film turns out to be a blockbuster, it will be a double dhamaka for Nagarjuna and Akkineni fans.
Pre-release events are reportedly planned for July in Chennai and August in Hyderabad, signaling a high-voltage promotional campaign leading up to the film’s release on August 14, where it will clash with WAR 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR.
