Actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya-starrer Telugu actioner “Autonagar Surya”, which released Friday, managed to rake in only Rs. 5.8 crore in its opening weekend in Andhra Pradesh. The long delay in the film’s release might have affected the film’s box-office prospects believes a trade analyst.

The film apparently collected Rs. 5.8 crore in the opening weekend. It was supposed to do well, but I reckon the delay in release had affected its prospect at the box-office. Even the success of ‘Manam’ didn’t help Chaitanya to impress audiences. Naga Chaitanya’s family drama “Manam”, which turned out to be a stupendous hit, is still running in cinemas. The makers of “Autonagar Surya” were hopeful that the success of ‘Manam’ will help their film to draw audiences. However, it didn’t work in their favour.

But the delay in release has affected several star-studded films in the past. This is not the first time delay in a film’s release has affected its box-office run. In the past, films such as “Anji”, “Paisa” and “Damarukam” released and faced a similar fate. Directed by Deva Katta, “Autonagar Surya” also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sai Kumar in important roles.
