Will Telugu Audience Connect with Dhanush’s Pain?

Dhanush returns with Amara Kaavyam

Dhanush is teaming up with Kriti Sanon for the first time in Aanand L. Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein. Dhanush and Aanand Rai earlier delivered two memorable films, Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re, both praised for their emotional depth.

When asked why he repeatedly chooses such intense characters, Dhanush shared a funny yet honest reply from Aanand Rai. The director told him, “You have a great love-failure face.” Dhanush said he went home that day and kept looking in the mirror, trying to understand the comment, but eventually took it as a compliment.

Dhanush explained that Aanand Rai’s films may look simple, but the characters are extremely challenging. A small acting mistake can make the audience dislike him. He said his character Shankar in Tere Ishk Mein, is also lovable but layered. He said he always chooses scripts that push him to act deeply rather than simply deliver lines.

Meanwhile, the market of Tamil heroes like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya and Karthi has dropped in Telugu states over the years. But Dhanush has been consistently working on expanding his Telugu market. Films like Sir and Kuberaa helped him build a strong 50–100 crore range in the Telugu regions.

Now he is coming again with Amara Kaavyam, the Telugu version of Tere Ishk Mein. The Hindi trailer impressed audiences with Dhanush’s intense feelings for Kriti. Since Aanand Rai already proved his strength in romantic dramas, expectations are decent. The makers believe the story’s emotional depth will connect well with Telugu audiences.

Amara Kaavyam releases on November 28, and fans are waiting to see if Dhanush can score another success in the Telugu market.
