Recently, the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards for the year 2024 were announced. Among them, Dhanush’s Raayan won in the Best Tamil Film category. Following this, many people on social media started trolling the jury, commenting that it seems as though Dhanush fans were the jurors for the National Awards.
These trolls are not only because Raayan was selected as the Best Tamil Film of the year 2024, but also because Dhanush was given a Special Mention for Best Actor by the jury for Captain Miller.
Although some selections look deserved, like Bramayugam being awarded for Best Cinematography, Meiyazhagan being selected for Best Sound Mixing and Rajkumar Periyasamy being selected as Best Director for Amaran, selections like Best Film for Raayan and the Special Mention for Dhanush in Captain Miller are not at all acceptable, according to Kollywood audiences.
Even some of Dhanush’s own fans on social media are suggesting that while the previous National Awards bagged by Dhanush were well-deserved, the Best Film win for Raayan looks awkward and solid films like Meiyazhagan, Maharaja, or Vaazhai should have been selected as the Best Tamil Film instead.
Meanwhile, many people have now started trolling Dhanush claiming that it seems he paid a huge amount to the National Award jury to buy the Best Tamil Film award for Raayan.
