Vikram’s long pending project Dhruva Natchathiram, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is reportedly set for a worldwide theatrical release in February. Reports suggest that the team has finally cleared all financial issues after years of uncertainty.
The shooting of Dhruva Natchathiram began in 2017, but the film has faced repeated delays due to serious financial troubles. Multiple release plans were announced earlier, yet each attempt ended in postponement, keeping the project stuck for years.
Fresh speculation now claims that all dues have been settled and the film is ready to hit theatres this February. However, many remain sceptical, as similar buzz has surfaced several times in the past without resulting in an actual release.
A few years ago, the team even announced a release date and opened pre bookings in select centres. Just a day before release, the High Court issued an interim stay and asked GVM to repay pending loans taken for the film’s production.
Amid the renewed release talk, some believe that a theatrical outing may not be the right move. They argue that Dhruva Natchathiram was shot eight years ago for a different audience pulse and viewing habits have since changed significantly.
According to this view, even if the film releases after clearing financial hurdles, it could struggle at the box office. The added release costs may further increase the burden on the makers.
Others remain optimistic and point to the success of Vishal’s Madha Gaja Raja. Despite being a long delayed project, it became a major success after release, raising hopes that Dhruva Natchathiram could follow a similar path.
For now, it remains uncertain whether Dhruva Natchathiram will finally release this time. The bigger question is whether it can overcome years of delays and emerge as a successful theatrical venture.
