There were reports that Dil Raju has dropped a plan to make a Mega Budget film with Indraganti Mohana Krishna which he committed to before the release of V. The failure of V changed the odds against the director and prompted a change of mind for Dil Raju.
Even though it is a loss to Indraganti, discussion is if a direct online release contained the damage considerably. “A flop is a flop anywhere but you never known the intensity of a flop when it releases online because you do not have any metrics,” the experts say.
“If the films release in theaters, we will get to know the collections day by day and have the scope to compare them with recent films and the previous films of the actors and directors. So when a film flops on OTT, the damage is less for the director or actor in terms of bad press,” they add.
At the same time, they are also shying away from their responsibility of promoting a film after the release if it flops. Even for the good films, the promotions are not up to the mark. This is an attitude that should be changed which will eat away the online market,” they say.
