His wife, journalist Anupama Chopra, suggested that he release “12th Fail” on OTT platforms, citing skepticism about its box office appeal. Kangana Ranaut, expressing her views on X (formerly known as Twitter), labeled Anupama as ‘deeply jealous.’

Kangana asserted, “Vidhu sir’s wife @anupamachopra is a disgrace in the name of film journalism—xenophobic, deeply jealous, and insecure of younger, intelligent women. No wonder she envies her own husband, using his name and wealth to establish her ventures, wielding her Bollywood wife card at film parties, and aligning with gossip circles against genuine talent and quality films.”

Vidhu, recounting Anupama’s initial doubts, revealed her skepticism about the film’s success.

Anupama later acknowledged her misjudgment publicly, admitting, “I was wrong, and you are right!” The dynamic between the director and his journalist wife adds an intriguing layer to the film’s narrative.
