HBD Koratala: Raising from Padhagattam

Koratala SivaKoratala Siva is one of the most successful directors in the Telugu film industry. He started his career as a director with Prabhas’ Mirchi, which is touted as one of the best masala potboilers of the last decade. Mahesh Babu, who was reeling under the effect of flops like Nenokkadine and Aagadu, made a strong comeback with Koratala’s second film Srimanthudu.

Janata Garage and Bharat Ane Nenu also turned out to be big hits. Koratala had a 100% success rate and gave career-highest grossers to all the stars he worked with before Acharya happened.

There were sky-high expectations from Acharya as it was the first collaboration of Koratala Siva and Chiranjeevi, aided by Ram Charan’s special appearance. The film didn’t live up to even minimum expectations and emerged as one of the biggest disasters of all time. Koratala Siva’s career almost hit Paadaghattam.

When a director delivers such a disaster, most star heroes back out of the projects committed to that director. But NTR kept his confidence in Koratala Siva. He trusted in Koratala Siva’s immense talent as a writer and director and waited for him despite many hurdles and delays.

Now their film, Devara, is under production, and the film’s shooting is going on at a brisk pace. The film is centered around the forgotten coastal lands of India, where a fisherman turns against a group of drug smugglers. The film is all set to release on April 5, 2024.

Let’s hope Devara turns out to be the biggest blockbuster in Koratala Siva’s career and proves to everyone that Acharya was just one off from him.

We wish Koratala Siva a very happy birthday and also wish that he comes out of that Paadaghattam once and for all.
