At first, the Hindi box office prospects of Kalki, despite the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone looked rather shaky. It was projected that the film would open in the range of Rs 15 crores.
However, Kalki has now started to exceed expectations big time in the Hindi belt as it is heading for a 2024 record start in the North belt.
Coming to the Hindi openings, Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter holds the record for he biggest start of 2024, but this could be broken by Kalki, say reports.
Apparently, Kalki is trending better than Figher in proper Hindi belts like East Punjab and West Bengal.
The interesting thing is that Kalki is putting up such numbers despite the low-key promotions and not much glittery stuff by the team ahead of the release. This means that the film has genuinely excited the Hindi folk with its scale and ensemble cast.
The brand value of Prabhas has also come into play here as he appears to have made a mark for himself amongst the Hindi crowd.
Kalki could be posting the best opening numbers for any Indian film in several key pockets of the Hindi belt. This is a mighty feat and shows the impact of South cinema, particularly Telugu cinema up North.
Kalki is anyway going strong in the Telugu land and also in Kannada, apart from the conventionally strong North American belt. This extra boost from the Hindi market is the real deal.
