Hindi Box Office: Adipurush Sees Another Huge Drop

Adipurush-Box-OfficeAdipurush had a surprisingly good start at the box office. While most box office analysts anticipated a Rs 20 crore nett opening for the film in the Hindi belt, it almost doubled the tally and opened with Rs 35 crore nett.

The film had a Rs 100 crore nett weekend at the Hindi box office which is a pretty substantial feat for a pan Indian film from South. However, then came the inevitable drop which is a mighty big one, as it turns out.

On its first Monday, Adipurush collected around Rs 7 crore and this tally slipped further on Tuesday as it collected a mere Rs 5 crore nett.

The film has slipped on the weekdays, and the trench is much bigger than initially expected. There are reports that the film is not getting screened in certain North Indian belts where Hindutva is at its peak, as there are comments that the film is a misrepresentation of Ramayan.

The blockbuster Rs 100 crore opening weekend brings some value to the overall tally of the film in the Hindi belt – Rs 117 crore. A lot depends on how it holds over the second weekend. If it can pick up, then it’s all good, else the film will be tipped to be a loss venture in Hindi, say Bollywood media reports.
