The all-time classic show for all ages, the Television adaptation of Ramayan, by Ramanand Sagar is back. Yes, Ramayan will be televised on DD channel twice a day starting from March 28th.
Information and Broadcast Minister, Prakash Javedkar made the announcement via Twitter to the people of India. He stated that on public demand, the Ramayan would be re-telecast from Saturday in Prime Time, twice a day. It will be shown from 9 AM to 10 AM and 9 PM to 10 PM in the night.
Ramayan was Ramanand Sagar’s magnum opus which aired on Doordarshan from 1987 to 1989. It made Arun Govil, Deepika Chickalia, and Sunil Lahri, stars and household names across India. The Nation used to come to a standstill every Sunday literally. The reruns of the show too are legendary.
The current lockdown situation due to coronavirus seems to be the perfect time to re-watch the classic. There is also a demand to bring back Mahabharat, as well, let’s see if that is also in the pipeline.
The Twitterati, meanwhile, is making Ramayan a trending topic and going nostalgic with the memories of the past.
