Rajinikanth‘s most anticipated sequel Jailer 2 directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is currently in the post-production stage and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15th.
Since its announcement, Jailer 2 has carried huge expectations among audiences, as the original Jailer was a massive blockbuster success and collected more than 600 crores worldwide.
Consequently, considering the hype surrounding Jailer 2, many trade experts suggest that it is currently the only potential project in Kollywood to achieve the dream 1000-crore mark. They also appreciated the makers of Jailer 2 for locking in the Dussehra release slot, as it offers a 5-day long weekend.
In this scenario, now there is strong speculation that due to delays in post-production work, the makers of Jailer 2 are planning to postpone the film to November 5th or November 6th targeting the Diwali weekend.
Even though there haven’t been any official updates on this, many trade experts are responding to the speculation by suggesting that the makers of Jailer 2 should stick to the planned release date of October 15th and not postpone to Diwali.
This is because they note that the highly anticipated pan-Indian film Ramayana is releasing for Diwali. Hence, if Jailer 2 releases during Diwali, it will not be able to acquire a solid screen count and its North Indian collections will be heavily affected by Ramayana.
Additionally, they feel that since Jailer 2 has a massive star cast with actors from different industries, it deserves a solo release and needs a solid theatrical run for at least 2-3 weeks in India.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether Jailer 2 will be postponed to Diwali or released as planned in October and whether the film will emerge as a massive blockbuster success upon its release.
