We have seen several films centered around the film industry, but Kaantha seems to be completely different from them. Starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, with Samuthirakani in a pivotal role and Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, the film’s trailer was released today. Rebel Star Prabhas did the honours.
The trailer begins with an aspiring actor seeking blessings from his mentor, a filmmaker, after landing a big project with the mentor’s help. He eventually becomes a star, and the newfound stardom starts creating friction between him and his mentor. Their ambitious project Shaantha becomes the focal point of their ego clash, as both want to execute it in their own distinct styles.
The story has multiple layers and significant depth, all thanks to director Selvamani Selvaraj for bringing such a complex narrative to life. For a story of this caliber, what it truly needed were strong performances and technical brilliance.
Dulquer Salmaan immerses himself in the role of the film actor, displaying remarkable versatility as his character evolves from a struggling actor to a celebrated star. The final shot, where he yells at the cinematographer to get a close-up to capture his expressions, is particularly striking.
Samuthirakani delivers an exceptional performance as Dulquer’s mentor and deserves praise for his intensity and authenticity. Although his character has limited dialogue, he conveys profound emotions through his expressions. Bhagyashri Borse impresses in a character with nuanced shades, while Rana Daggubati is a surprising addition, making a strong impact as a police officer.
The collective efforts of art director Ramalingam, cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez, and music director Jhanu Chanthar elevate the narrative, complemented by top-notch production standards from Rana‘s Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films Pvt. Ltd.
Overall, the trailer promises a rollercoaster ride of emotions, drama, and intensity. The movie is slated for release on November 14th.
