Nag Ashwin

Director Nag Ashwin breaks new ground with Kalki 2898 AD, a sci-fi film that blends A-list stars, cutting-edge technology, and a uniquely Indian narrative.

Set in a dystopian future, the movie offers a level of worldbuilding typically seen in Hollywood hits like Star Wars, Blade Runner, or Dune. What sets it apart is its deep Indian influences: Kalki refers to the Kali Yuga era, featuring the cursed immortal Ashwatthama and Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu.

The film’s star-studded cast includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. Keerthy Suresh voices Bujji, an AI bot controlling a futuristic car.

Another interesting aspect is that the film will have many cameos from some of the most interesting celebs.

According to reports (unconfirmed), Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, SS Rajamouli, and Ram Gopal Varma are doing cameos in Kalki 2898 AD.

Nag Ashwin is a brilliant screenplay writer as evident in Evade Subramanyam and Mahanati.

In Mahanati, the story could have been told even without Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha cameos. But to make the story more engaging and intriguing, Nag Ashwin included their characters in the film.

So it would be interesting to witness how he will use the cameos by these stars and include them in the screenplay of Kalki 2898 AD.
