‘Durgamati‘, a faithful remake of Tollywood blockbuster ‘Bhaghamati’ is the second remake in the recent times which was helmed by the director of the original but, disappointed big time.
Looks like, Bollywood is killing back-to-back South blockbusters with lacklustre remakes without catering to the sensibilities of pan-Indian audiences. ‘Durgamati’ needs a star besides an actress who can deliver.
The makers failed in that aspect alongside the fact that the thriller list all its sheen without a gripping narrative. The blame goes to the writing. When a movie is remade in another language, the script and the dialogues play a major role.
‘Laxmii Bomb’ directed by Raghava Lawrence, the director of the original ‘Kanchana’ failed completely though he had a superstar, Akshay Kumar as the protagonist. Right after it started streaming on OTT platform, it became a meat for trolls.
