Actor-comedian Ali will always be remembered for his role in S.V Krishna Reddy’s ‘Yamaleela’, but did you know superstar Mahesh Babu was considered for the lead role in the film? Apparently, Mahesh was supposed to play the lead in the film, which released in 1994, but his father Krishna wanted to launch Mahesh three years later.
The makers of the film later cast Ali, and rest was history. The film turned out to be a hit and literally catapulted the career of the actor. Apparently, Ali was paid INR 50,000 for that film and INR 1 lakh for Ghatokachudu. Ali since then has gone on to become one of the best actors of Telugu industry with over 200 films to his credit.
He is awaiting the release of this latest film ‘Alibaba Okkade Donga’, in which he features as a lead. Ali never wanted to do lead role again but since he had acted in 49 films as lead, he wanted to do one more to complete the landmark figure 50.
