Rishab Shetty’s Shivaji Maharaj biopic is getting a new production partner. Bhushan Kumar has joined Rishab and director Sandeep Singh for The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. With T-Series coming on board, the film is now being planned for two parts.
Rishab will portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and the cast already includes Bhumi Pednekar, Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi. The makers are looking to cover the Maratha king’s life, including his battles, victories and the establishment of Swarajya. It is a story with plenty of ground to cover, which is perhaps why the team has opted for two parts.
The addition of T-Series gives the project another major production partner. The makers are planning to begin shooting in early 2027 and are said to be putting together an international team for the film.
For Rishab Shetty, this is a big project after the success of Kantara. Playing Shivaji Maharaj is a different kind of responsibility, as the character carries immense historical and cultural significance. The film will have to go beyond grand visuals and action to do justice to the legacy of the Maratha king.
